Nothing announced on May 13 that it will roll out its next flagship, the Phone 3, during the summer. The company’s CEO, Carl Pei, revealed the plan in a “Device Showcase” segment on Android’s official YouTube channel immediately following The Android Show: I/O Edition. A blurred prototype appeared on screen as Pei confirmed the Phone 3 will arrive at roughly £800 (about Rs 90,000), nearly double the launch price of its predecessor, the Phone 2, which debuted in 2023 at Rs 44,999.
Pei said the Phone 3 will feature “premium materials, performance upgrades and software that levels up the user experience.” Exact details remain under wraps, but industry watchers predict a switch to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 or Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, paired with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Nothing has maintained its hallmark transparent rear panel design, with indications the Phone 3 will adopt a metal frame and glass back.
On social media, co-founder Akis Evangelidis called the Phone 3 Nothing’s “first true flagship smartphone” in a post on X (formerly Twitter). Evangelidis’s tease underscored the company’s intent to move upmarket after finding success in the midrange segment.
Software enhancements are expected to focus on deeper integration of artificial intelligence. Pei previously hinted at AI-based “interactions” under development for Nothing OS, suggesting the Phone 3 could introduce new system-level features that extend beyond simple camera or battery optimizations.
The summer launch will place Nothing in direct competition with established brands in the premium Android space, including Samsung and OnePlus. With pricing set near the £800 mark, the Phone 3 aims to attract buyers looking for a distinct design and cutting-edge hardware.
Nothing plans to share full specifications and exact release dates in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, prelaunch interest continues to build as analysts and enthusiasts await hands-on reviews to confirm whether the Phone 3 lives up to the “true flagship” billing.
